Comment entretenir son maillot de bain été après été

How to maintain your swimsuit summer after summer

The warmer weather is here, and with it comes the irresistible urge to slip into your favorite swimsuit . Proper care for your swimsuit is essential to keep it looking as beautiful as the first day.

We share our advice with you to preserve the quality, color and shape of your bikini in polyamide and elastane, two technical and delicate materials.

Why should you take care of your swimsuit?

Our swimsuits are designed to last, but they remain exposed to many factors that can damage them: chlorine, salt, sunscreen, sand, perspiration, UV rays... Proper maintenance allows you to:

  • Extend the life of the fabric
  • Maintain the elasticity and support of the jersey
  • Preserve the brightness of colors
  • Avoid deformation or deterioration of the fabric

1. Rinse immediately after each swim

The first golden rule: rinse your Rinse your swimsuit with clean water immediately after each swim. Chlorine from swimming pools or sea salt can weaken textile fibers. Rinsing with warm or cold water helps quickly remove these harsh residues.

2. Gentle washing, always by hand

Although it may seem convenient, machine washing is best avoided . It is too harsh on materials like polyamide and elastane. Here's the correct method:

  • Wash your swimsuit by hand in lukewarm water
  • Use a mild soap , without detergent or bleach
  • Do not rub too hard, press gently without twisting the fabric
  • Tip: A mild shampoo can do the trick perfectly!

3. Natural drying, without direct sunlight

Let your swimsuit air dry, flat on a towel, in the shade . Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause colors to fade and weaken the spandex.

  • Never use a tumble dryer
  • Do not hang by the straps to prevent them from sagging

4. Be careful of rough surfaces

Pool edges, rocks, or even some towels can snag the fabric and cause pilling. Before sitting or lying down, make sure to lay your towel flat.

5. Avoid prolonged baths with chemicals

Sunscreens, oils, and self-tanners are often your bikini's hidden enemies. Wait until the product has fully absorbed into your skin before putting on your swimsuit. This will limit stains and discoloration.

The little extra: store it properly

At the end of the season or between swims, store your swimsuit in a dry place , away from light, and above all never in a damp plastic bag!
